Mike Hoxie

Mike Hoxie was born and raised in Hawaii. After moving to the mainland, Mike lived in California for ten years before moving to the Northwest over twenty years ago. He has recently moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

Mike learned the game of Pickleball in 2009 from Hall of Fame members Enrique Ruiz and Steve Paranto. Considered by many as the best tournament director in the Pickleball universe, Mike opened his company, “Pickleball Is Great” in February 2016, doing his first tournament in Portland, Oregon. Over the last five year, Mike has run over 300 tournaments.

While Pickleball is growing at record rates, in the beginning, when courts were not readily available, Mike set up thousands of temporary courts and nets.
Currently, in addition to his own “Pickleball Is Great” tournaments, Mike manages all types of tournaments from US Senior Pickleball, to USA Pickleball sanctioned tournaments, and AAU licensed tournaments.

After 30 successful years in retail management, Mike’s focus is on making the player experience “exceptional” as he believes that is the “critical key” to his success.
