About Us

Mike Hoxie started “Pickleball Is Great,” the premiere Pickleball Tournament Management Company, in 2016. Mike began with 6 tournaments in the Portland Metro area. In 2018, Mike left his full-time job mid-year and ran 23 tournaments mostly in Washington and Oregon. In 2019, Mike added his first two tournament directors, and moved into four new states, Hawaii, Arizona, Alaska, and Colorado, while producing 46 tournaments.

Demand over the next four years resulted in a steady growth of tournaments and tournament directors working for “Pickleball Is Great,” culminating in 91 tournaments in 2023. “Pickleball Is Great” is projected to produce between 105 -120 tournaments in 2024.

The continuous growth of tournament business for ‘Pickleball Is Great” has been on referral basis only. Mike believes, “our passion for a superior player experience is the centerpiece of our success. “
